A Tale of Two Shepherds

In today’s message we are looking at a slice of life as two persons, David and Doeg, work their mission. It is raw, unfiltered, and harsh. To get where they are today, each had to overcome various challenges similar to those we face today - ethnicity, expectations of others, position in the family of origin, and internal self definitions and needs. David moved from shepherding sheep in the pasture to the king’s palace, and then running for safety because the king placed a bounty on his head. David has not yet received appointment to the position God anointed him. Doeg, a man seeking God, has worked his way to a position of trust and responsibility in Saul’s palace, but he still feels a lack. There are six takeaways from their lives that we can use for how we work our mission.
