Preamble of Worship: Resurrection Sunday
On Easter Resurrection Sunday, we worship with a theological overview and music. In four chapters with music, we worship the resurrection with an overview of atonement, redemption, reconciliation, and eternal life. We celebrate that Jesus has risen and is alive in victory forever with power that defeated even death. Jesus had to die for you and me. Even when we try to do right, we fall short. As a temporary foreshadowing, God had a sacrificial system in sacrificing lambs for the remission of sins. The permanent solution is the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ, “the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world” (John 1:29). God’s love heals, forgives, and restores us. The depth of God’s love never abandons us. God can be trusted, and God always has the last word. Even in the midst of dire circumstances of Good Friday, Easter Resurrection Sunday is coming. We experience the power of the resurrection through personal relationship with God and Jesus Christ. Jesus is the Lamb of God who died in our place, defeated death, and is the Lamb on the throne forever.
