Sermon Scripture: Acts 3:1-10
The sermon "Greater Things Ahead: Connecting With God" by Minister Paula Fuller at South Bay Community Church focuses on experiencing "greater things" in 2025, the church's 40th anniversary year. It emphasizes aligning with God through spiritual disciplines, particularly during the 28 Days of Prayer and Fasting initiative. The sermon draws inspiration from Acts 3:1-10, where Peter and John encounter a man who had been lame from birth and was begging at the temple gate called Beautiful.
In the story, Peter, filled with faith and the power of the Holy Spirit, tells the man, “Silver or gold I do not have, but what I do have I give you. In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, walk.” Instantly, the man is healed, walking, jumping, and praising God. This miracle serves as a powerful demonstration of the authority found in Jesus' name and the transformative power of faith. The passage reminds believers that when they align themselves with God and act in faith, miraculous things can happen.
Pastor Tammy introduced the "4 Ps of Preparation" for fasting and prayer in the prior week.
Minister Paula Fuller introduced two more Ps: Posture and Process, using Peter’s journey as an example.
Posture challenges believers to examine their hearts before God, reflecting on Peter’s initial doubts and ultimate transformation. Process emphasizes how Peter’s spiritual growth—from following Jesus, to denying Him, to being restored and boldly preaching at Pentecost—demonstrates that spiritual maturity is a journey.
The sermon underscores the role of the Holy Spirit, referencing John 7:38-39, where Jesus promises that rivers of living water will flow from those who believe in Him, signifying the Spirit’s empowering presence. Just as Peter experienced growth and empowerment through the Spirit, believers today are called to step into greater faith.
The sermon concludes with an invitation for the congregation to fully engage in the 28 Days of Prayer and Fasting, believing that, like Peter, they too can experience transformation, healing, and the greater things God has prepared for them.

Pastor Tammy introduced the "4 Ps of Preparation" for fasting and prayer in the prior week.
- Purpose – With God, determine why you are fasting. What is your purpose?
- Plan – Consider what type of fast you will do, and how you will incorporate time with God in your daily routine.
- Practices – Determine what spiritual practices you will do to draw closer to God.
- Place – Consider where you will go to meet with God.
